About Matt Herman

Insurance specialist Matt Herman, founder and former CEO of Enhance Health, from Tamarac, Florida, has earned a reputation as one of the most dynamic figures in the insurance world. He combined sharp business instincts with a drive to make a lasting social impact. His expansive career reflects financial success and a deep commitment to expanding access to healthcare and opportunity for underserved populations.

Within just two years, Herman led Enhance Health from a $16 million shortfall to more than $570 million in revenue, building one of Florida’s largest minority employers in the process. His work has helped over a million Americans enroll in health plans and better understand the healthcare system. A substantial percentage of these individuals achieved these accomplishments for the first time.

From Floor Coverings to Formative Lessons

Matt was raised with a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for perseverance, entering the business world straight out of high school. After graduating in 2004, he eagerly joined his family’s floor-covering business and quickly embraced the challenge.

Matt’s natural leadership and focus helped him play a key role in scaling the company into South Florida’s leading flooring contractor for new residential construction. The experience laid the groundwork for his future ventures, giving him an early understanding of how to grow and lead a thriving organization.

With his innate leadership ability and relentless energy, Matt helped transform the company into South Florida’s top flooring contractor for new residential construction.

This early experience further shaped the ambitious young man’s approach to leadership. Learning firsthand how to scale a business taught him how to identify opportunities, manage people effectively, and adapt to change. These qualities would later guide his successful ventures in healthcare.

Shifting Gears: Finding His Lane in Health Insurance

In 2008, Matt made a bold move, switching industries entirely to pursue a new path in health insurance. The transition marked the beginning of a fast-paced rise through the ranks.

Starting at Premier Health, he took on a leadership role and rapidly expanded the agency from just 20 agents to several hundred. This growth demonstrated not only his operational talent but also his ability to attract and retain high-performing teams.

Soon after, Matt launched his own field marketing organization, offering top-level contracts to agents nationwide. This proved to be a highly lucrative move, attracting national attention and ultimately leading to a successful exit involving Bain Capital. By then, Matt Herman had already made his mark as a formidable presence in the insurance world.

Enhance Health: Growth Fueled by Purpose

After selling his FMO, Matt set out to build something with a deeper social impact. That vision became Enhance Health, a company that would transform the prevailing healthcare landscape with a mission-driven model.

Rather than focusing solely on sales, Matt built a team that prioritized education, guidance, and support. He was particularly focused on addressing the needs of low-income individuals, a sector of society that had historically lacked sufficient access to crucial healthcare coverage.

In just 24 months, Matt turned a financial deficit into explosive growth, pushing revenue well past the half-billion-dollar mark. The company also became one of the largest minority employers in Florida.

More importantly, Enhance Health helped over one million people enroll in ACA health plans. For many, this was their first introduction to primary care services.

Beyond enrollment, Herman’s team worked to improve lives through financial literacy coaching, credit repair support, and benefits education. This hands-on approach helped members not only get coverage but also actually understand and use it.

A New Chapter Rooted in Service

At this point in Matt Herman’s life, he had already achieved what many of his peers had only dreamt of accomplishing. But resting on his laurels was the farthest thing from his mind.

After a high-profile run in private equity and a groundbreaking role in healthcare, Matt turned his attention to a mission that was especially close to his heart. He focused on helping children with special needs, providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive. For the high-powered insurance executive, this new chapter was less about scale and more about impact at the individual level.

Even as he fully committed to charitable work, Matt continued to garner recognition and acclaim for his business acumen and other pursuits. He was a top contender for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award, and his competitive spirit even took him to the winner’s circle at the NASCAR Chicago street race.

Outside the office, Matt unwinds by playing basketball and lifting weights. For the tireless insurance professional and social advocate, these activities reflect his energetic approach to work and life.

Matt Herman’s story is one of continuous reinvention, driven by equal parts ambition and empathy. From his early days in the flooring business to his time scaling Enhance Health, he has shown how business leadership can align with social responsibility. As he focuses on his next mission, he continues to lead with a rare mix of strategy, compassion, and clarity of purpose.
